Intensive Therapy
Jumpstart Your Healing
What is it?
The intensive therapies include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), IFS (Internal Family Systems), and Brainspotting.
Most often, a combination of approaches is used in intensive therapy sessions.
See below for more information on each type of therapy.
Why do it?
You want to experience deep therapeutic work that can change your life
You had a very painful experience that is still impacting you today
You have done EMDR/Brainspotting/IFS before and found it helpful for your healing and wellbeing
You want to prepare yourself mentally and emotionally for a big life event like a wedding, becoming a parent, a medical procedure, starting a new job, or moving to a new city
You already go to weekly therapy and you feel stuck or on the verge of a breakthrough.
How will it work?
You are able to schedule multiple days in a row for up to 4 hours each day. We dive in deep to the work in order to see relief a little quicker without having to wait in between weekly sessions.
We will start with a 90 minute intake process where we will learn more about what your needs are and formulate a plan specifically towards you. You will receive a customized workbook with information and tools to guide you through our work together. Then we will schedule our blocks of time together.
We will wrap up with another 90 minute session where will discuss what comes next.
What is Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)?
EMDR (*Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that aides in healing from past trauma experiences. Developed by Francine Shapiro, EMDR is an evidenced based therapy that is used to treat a wide range of symptoms. Using a technique called bi lateral stimulation (eye movements or tapping), we help the brain process negatively stored information to a more neutral or adaptive state.
What is Brainspotting?
Brainspotting is a therapy model developed by David Grand in 2003. Trained in EMDR, David discovered that certain points in the client’s visual field (brain spot) help to access unprocessed trauma in the subcortical brain. “Where you look affects how you feel,” is often what is said in brainspotting trainings. BSP makes use of this natural phenomenon through it’s use of relevant eye positions. This helps the BSP therapist locate, focus, process and release a wide range of emotionally and bodily-based conditions. BSP is also a brain-based tool to support the therapy relationship. We believe that BSP taps into and harnesses the body’s natural self-scanning, self-healing ability. When a Brainspot is stimulated, the deep brain appears to reflexively signal the therapist that the source of the problem has been found. BSP can also be used to find and strengthen our natural resources and resilience.
What is Internal Family Systems (IFS)?
IFS (Internal Family Systems) is a psychotherapy developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz. IFS is a transformative tool that conceives of every human being as a system of protective and wounded inner parts led by a core Self. We believe the mind is naturally multiple and that is a good thing. Just like members of a family, inner parts are forced from their valuable states into extreme roles within us. Self is in everyone. It can’t be damaged. It knows how to heal.
IFS is frequently used as an evidence-based psychotherapy, helping people heal by accessing and healing their protective and wounded inner parts. IFS creates inner and outer connectedness by helping people first access their Self and, from that core, come to understand and heal their parts.

What You Can Expect
First, we will schedule a 20 minute screening call to make sure we are a good fit.
If we agree to proceed, a 90 minute intake will be scheduled. During this intake, we will determine goals and length of time for this intensive. If you are in agreement, then a 50% deposit will be taken in order to reserve the time.
The intensive will take place, and then we will meet about 3-4 weeks later for a 90 minute post intensive session. We will discuss next steps here.
